Love is Action

Dormant is my love for you
Long buried by the leaves of fear
Stagnant from lack of exercise
Walled up inside its fortress
A forgotten flame flickers
In the darkness of my heart

Separation wakes love's silence within
Raking away the mindless mulch
Compromising the fortress wall
Love's flame brightens within
A heart of kindness and compassion
Re-awakened and illuminated

Forgiveness calls for wrongs now realized
To speak love's language
In that way in which you hear
A fearful step must be taken
To open my heart with faith and hope
For a chance at reconciliation

Too short is my time in this world
To sit on life's couch waiting for
What will never show up
I choose now to break fear's grip
To love and take action
